Stardew Valley players may choose the bachelor or bachelorette they wish to marry on a number of things. From debonair pixelated looks to their deep, personal stories, the farmer has plenty of options. But what if you want to marry the best candidate based on the best perks, from purely an objective standpoint? Keep reading to discover who to marry for maximum reward payout, but beware, reading ahead may give you in-game spoilers.
These options are based on the rewards given from reaching the post-marriage event from achieving high heart levels, the point system that denotes relationship standings with Pelican Town’s villagers, and gifts your spouse gives you at random times.
Leah
Leah is the town’s artist. Her cozy, small cottage settled in the woods makes her a mysterious bachelorette. If you marry her, she gifts salads on the regular, which is arguably one of the most efficient energy-providers in the game compared to other food options.
Marrying the artistic red-head will grant the player an additional item not unlockable through other means. Her 14-heart event gives the option to receive 1 of 3 new paintings: a classic country portrait, a retro pop-art and a minimalist modern, which you can hang inside your farmhouse.
Penny
A sweet and caring candidate, Penny is Pelican Town’s shy book lover.
Her 14-heart event is what makes her stand out. She will offer the farmer the chance to redecorate her home. This gives the player tons of furniture not otherwise accessible, including an adorable strawberry rug and an edgy pirate tapestry. This home makeover makes Penny quite the catch.
Krobus
While not exactly a marriage candidate, Krobus makes a helpful roommate. When he cooks for the player, he may occasionally gift a Lucky Lunch. The meal heals 45 health points and provides the player with an additional 100 points of energy. Best of all, it gives a boost in luck which increases things like the quality and number of dropped items and boosts the chance of treasure drops while fishing.
Maru
Maru is the bomb queen. If you love to spend your time playing deep in the caves collecting ore, Maru is the bachelorette to marry. Two of her random gifts are the cherry bomb and bomb. With these, and the occasional chocolate cake and rice pudding, you’ll be prepared for a day in the mines.
Emily
The blue-haired quirky fashionista is a unique choice for the farmer’s spouse. If you love the game’s clothing and character customization features, she’s the one to pick. She randomly gifts the player wool, making sewing clothing a much simpler task. She even gifts the occasional coffee, as well. You’ll be speeding your way through Pelican Town.
Her fourteen heart event is a clothing collector’s dream as she gives the player new items including Emily’s Magic Hat, Emily’s Magic Boots, Emily’s Magic Shirt and Genie Pants.
