Check out these cozy VR games for a variety of fun new worlds. Experience everything from open ocean adventure to meditative gardening in the uniquely immersive way that only VR games can offer.
The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets
The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets is a casual cozy game, and while it’s quick and easy to play, it’s still a lot of fun. Your grandfather has charged you with solving the mystery of the stolen pets, and to do so you must travel to different worlds from your childhood and imagination. Explore cute cottages, wintery trains and even prehistoric jungles.
The puzzles are diorama-like – you can pick up items and rotate them to find clues and the pets. During the relaxing gameplay, listen to your grandfather’s narration and learn about your character’s family backstory.
Moss
The most battle-driven of these games, Moss is a cross between cute graphics, puzzles and fights against difficult enemies. Travel with Quill, a young mouse whose uncle is in grave danger, on an epic journey to defeat magical villains. While you control Quill’s actions, Moss takes an interesting route where you (the player) are still addressed as “the narrator.” You and Quill have complementary abilities, and the only way to win is together. Fans laud the game as being a true masterpiece – in terms of art style, storyline and the experience.
“Moss is the game that made me a gamer,” reviewer rosie.posie.osie writes. “It’s incredible.”
Garden of the Sea
Garden of the Sea translates everything appealing about Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing into a VR game. Not only can you decorate or upgrade your home, grow all sorts of plants in your garden and befriend the island’s animal inhabitants, but Garden of the Sea also features more adventure-based mechanics.
Venture away from friendly shores in your boat, sailing the seas in search of even more islands to investigate. This game has something for everyone and could be endlessly entertaining.
Fujii
In Fujii, immerse yourself in a beautiful VR wilderness. You can hike through the landscapes while collecting seed, animal and insect samples to introduce to your own personal garden. With different biomes (including dense forests and flower-filled fields) to explore, there are so many specimens to bring home.
Eddie Lee, the founder of Fujii’s studio, created this game out of his own love for gardening and his desire to explore the therapeutic, relaxing potential for plants in video games.
“Fujii is an attempt to capture that feeling, and to share in the modern plant zeitgeist.” he writes. “Take care of your garden, and your garden will take care of you.”
Ghost Giant
Live out books like Gulliver’s Travels and The BFG in this entertaining and unique VR game. In Ghost Giant, help Louis, a lonely little boy, by exploring his world and helping his fellow villagers. To solve the puzzles, find creative ways to use the world around you (like using a crane as a fishing rod). The possibilities for problem-solving are endless, and as you adventure, learn the stories of the village inhabitants.
