Nintendo revealed the teaser trailer today for The Super Mario Bros. Movie set to release next year, and we saw a glimpse of the long-awaited voice acting by Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt. What does the voice sound like? Well, it sounds like… Chris Pratt.
Twitter was quick to pass judgement and share disappointment on Pratt’s voice acting for the iconic character.

Illumination Entertainment, the studio behind Despicable Me and Minions, partnered with Nintendo in production. The film was announced in January 2018 and is set to release on April 7, 2023.
The ensemble cast also includes Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen and Keegan-Michael Key. The movie is being directed by Teen Titans Go‘s filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. The screenplay is by Matthew Fogel.
