Set in a peaceful forest with strange, silly creatures, Mail Time sets itself apart from other indie games. With decidedly warm, cozy gameplay, players will take on this easy-going adventure story game with quiet enthusiasm.
The story revolves around the player becoming a newly-minted mail scout. Equipped with plenty of letters and excitement to boot, the player goes around the forest delivering parcels to the creatures of Grumblewood Grove.
The customization features will pull at the players’ cottage-core hearts. Adorned with an adorable mushroom hat and trusty backpack, the mail carrier is plenty ready for their adventure. According to the creator, there are over 46,000 different customization variants. Additionally, there is a diverse range of skin color customizations and gender options.
The graphics do leave something to desire, but the overall colorful and whimsical nature of it makes it hardly noticeable.
It’s the heart-warming characters that make this indie game shine. From a lanky frog to a punky woodpecker, there is a wide variety of eclectic creatures to interact with. Discovering their individual lives enriches the gameplay.
The story is made to play at the player’s own pace. There is no punishment for taking things slow. Gamers who play to relax will appreciate this factor, plus the fact that there is no fall damage. Jump off the tallest tree, anyone?
This title is one filling the void for gamers who use gaming as a relaxing hobby. While games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring are great for flexing some skills, there is a definitive place for games like this in gamers’ Steam libraries.
The game is currently in development, but you can grab the demo for free on Steam. The game’s full release is planned for later this year.
