Though many of us were spoiled with major triple-A titles released earlier this year, there has been a lull coming into the fall of this year. However, there are still more titles to be released soon that many of us have been waiting months for. Here are the most anticipated games to be released from October to December of this year.
Overwatch 2 – October 4
The newest entry in the Overwatch franchise, the multiplayer, objective-based, hero shooter gets updated skins, graphics, gameplay, as well as new characters. Though many fans are understandably upset by the lack of any significant changes to the game, many others will be using it as an excuse to return to the game they used to love.
New Tales from the Borderlands – October 21
In the same style as Tales from the Borderlands developed by Telltale Games, Gearbox Software takes the reins to tell a new story in their unique IP. This time on the planet Promethea, with all new characters to love and badasses to fight.
Gotham Knights – October 21
From the studio that brought you Arkham Origins, Gotham Knights gives the player control of fan-favorite characters such as Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl and Robin in Gotham City itself. Among the rumored villains to appear in the game are Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, Clayface, The Penguin and Man-Bat. With new and returning heroes and villains, fans are excited to explore Gotham City with next-gen graphics and new stories to tell.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II – October 28
The sequel of the original Modern Warfare II from 2009 (don’t ask us how that works) this multiplayer shooter will bring back waves of nostalgia from many gamers who enjoyed 1v1-ing their friends on Rust after school. The new entry will bring back fan favorite maps as well as introduce a host of new ones. There will also be new game modes, such as DMZ, a PVEVP extraction mode similar to Escape from Tarkov.
A Plague Tale: Requiem – October 28
The sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence, this title continues to follow the story of Amicia and her little brother, Hugo, as they struggle to survive against the endless plague of rats and Hugo’s increasingly unpredictable power. This new entry looks better than ever and made to be experienced on next gen software.
God of War Ragnarök – November 9
Probably the most anticipated game of 2022 after Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarök follows Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they navigate Norse mythology in search of their place in a world that does not accept them. Fans are excited to step back into the role of Kratos and hear him call Atreus “boy” over and over. We will also get to be introduced to new gods as well as old, most of whom have a death wish for Kratos. Hopefully, we will discover Atreus’ place in this immortal society, and what role his mother, Kratos’ wife, had in shaping their destiny.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet – November 18
The next entry in the everlasting Pokémon saga, we head to the Paldea region, where we can meet all new and returning Pokémon, including the three new starters; Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly. The gameplay of Scarlet and Violet will follow in the steps of Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Sword and Shield, with open regions to explore and Pokémon out and about within the world. Scarlet and Violet also introduce multiplayer co-op, allowing you to bring up to three friends to explore with you.
Hello Neighbor 2 – December 6
The sequel to the mind-bending stealth horror adventure game, now you get to explore a more diverse cast of characters and a wider world to explore, or rather a neighborhood. Now you play as a journalist, investigating the case of a missing kid, and the neighbor is not far from suspicion. The gameplay has definitely been upgraded for next-gen and expands the world exponentially.
High on Life – December 13
From the creators of Rick and Morty, especially Justin Roiland, comes their next comedy-focused adventure shooter after Trover Saves the Universe. Coming from their previous game, the quality and polish have significantly increased, with a much larger world to explore and characters to meet, including a number of talking guns. We hope to laugh and cry, and laugh some more, when this title releases.
