Apex Legends announced today that the newest legend added to the game is transgender. She will be added to the game on November 1.
The legend’s name is Tess Smith aka Catalyst. She is a terraformer and defensive conjurer that uses control of ferrofluid to manipulate the game’s battlefield.
Fans of the game have expressed their excitement on social media.

She is the second transgender legend added to the roster. Bloodhound, a recon legend, is non-binary.
A 2021 study found that Apex Legends is the most diverse all video games released between 2017 and 2021. Six out of the seventeen legends in the roster are either openly gay, bisexual or otherwise not straight. Additionally, half of the characters are Black, Asian or otherwise not white.
In addition to Catalyst, Apex Legends is adding a new map, a gifting system and a new battlepass in the coming update.
