Overwatch 2 Triples Its Daily Players From Original Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment announced in a press release Friday that Overwatch 2 tripled the previous daily player peak from the original Overwatch. The newly released free-to-play team-based action game has seen over 25 million players launch the game in its first ten days.

Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment, is thrilled by the numbers.

“This is only the beginning—there are so many possibilities to explore in the world of Overwatch, and we cannot wait for players to experience everything the team is building for the live game,” Ybarra said.

The newest support hero, Kiriko, has been a popular pick in matches. Players have successfully charged and unleashed her ultimate ability over two million times in the first week.

As a thank you to players for picking up the game, any player who logs in from October 25 through to the end of the first season will receive a Reaper legendary skin and a health pack-themed weapon charm. Additionally, players can expect to earn double match XP on each weekend in the rest of October and one weekend at the end of November.

Overwatch 2 is expected to receive regular seasonal updates, which will include new heroes, maps, game modes and cosmetics. Gamers can currently pick up the game on Windows PC via Battle.net, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles.
