The overhaul includes changes like better item placement, an easier grab selection interface, more realistic posing and a left-handed mode. These changes should make the game more immersive and simpler to interact in.
According to the developer, Ben Lavender, there is an entire new system in play for this overhaul to take place.
“The new update fully replaces the old VR system with a better, more modern one,” Lavender said on Twitter.
Additional changes to the game are expected to come that will further the VR experience for players.
“The belt hasn’t changed too much, but once we’ve redesigned character models, VR will get a full IK rig with a better inventory system to match,” Lavender said.
The update also includes a seated mode. This makes the game more accessible to gamers who can’t play standing.
“As a disabled streamer that loves Phasmophobia, seated mode is definitely awesome,” Twitter user @AcE720 said.
Phasmophobia is an investigative horror game that first came with VR support in September 2020. While widely praised, some gamers did criticize the game for its animations and numerous bugs. This update should bring quality-of-life changes to the players who have requested it.
