The Best PC Games That Aren’t On Steam

When we think of PC games, our minds go straight to Steam. It has a plethora of games players can view and purchase, so it’s no wonder Steam is the go-to place for all gamers. Despite its massive popularity among players, not every game reaches there. Some may be an age issue or certain games aren’t tailored to modern systems, but whatever the case may be, this guide will give you some of the best PC games you won’t find on Steam.

Fortnite

You would’ve imagined this iconic game would appear on the storefront of Steam since it’s been the biggest game for the past five years and counting, but you’re wrong. Fortnite is developed by Epic Games which runs its own storefront and is a significant competitor against Steam. It’s quite unlikely Fortnite will ever be on Steam, so don’t get your hopes up. Fortnite makes sure its players will get the best experience everyone can enjoy.

Overwatch

Like Fortnite, Overwatch has not opened its doors to Steam. Created by Blizzard Entertainment, they usually don’t put their games on other storefronts – ahem Steam – as they have their own launcher and store to promote its games. Overwatch’s sequel is no exception as it’s only found through Blizzard Entertainment’s store. While they aren’t a major competitor to Steam like Epic Games, they still have fans around the world that keep them alive.

Genshin Impact

Another surprise of the century! Released by miHoYo in September 2020, Genshin Impact was the game that helped us survive the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and is not on Steam. No competition here as the game is solely RPG with consistent updates and celebrity crossovers. They have released it on Epic Games as well as on mobile and Windows, but there is no official possibility Genshin Impact will be on Steam as of now.

Kingdom Hearts

The beloved game series that was a hit on Playstation and Nintendo made its way to PC (and to my heart, but I digress). From the first Kingdom Hearts to the last of its series: Kingdom Hearts III, you also would’ve thought the PC version would go to Steam, but once again you’re wrong. Epic Games picked up Kingdom Hearts back in March 2021, so there’s a high chance they won’t let Steam grab them, but Square Enix has made no official remark on that.

Steam has dominated the PC market for years and they have every reason to be. They have the best selections and they’re always adding new titles to the mix, but you don’t have to go to Steam to look for the best games as not all games are there. With just some digging around and trial and error, the best games you’ll find may not be on a platform everyone goes to.
