With the Steam Winter Sale well underway, and our Steam Decks freshly unwrapped, we might find ourselves taking it places without an internet connection. With the huge library of steam games available, there are hundreds of offline games that can keep us occupied for hours. Here are the best game titles that you can play without having to worry about an internet connection.

Rimworld

An advanced, highly detailed, sci-fi, colony simulator, Rimworld gives you control over a handful of colonists to advance through various technological advancements while fighting off hordes of insect monsters, raiders, mechanoids and much more while collecting resources and unique pieces of technology. The focus of Rimworld is the story elements that arrive naturally through gameplay and encourages players to accept the consequences of disasters and decisions. Rimworld’s third DLC, Biotech, launched this October and gave players dozens of new ways to progress along with a talented modding community that makes it the perfect game to grind away your free time building the perfect colony.

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is the updated version of the critically acclaimed rouge-like, Binding of Isaac. This edition brings dozens of new items, enemy types, dungeon levels, and playable characters. Rebirth is the perfect title to pick up whenever you want and play through a few runs and set back down, and its many DLCs provide opportunities to expand gameplay in a variety of ways. Although a general audience might find the cutesy art style underscored by somewhat grotesque subject matter.

Hades

Another Rogue-like following a character known as Zagreus as he attempts to escape the underworld, and his father, Hades. The art style of Hades is beautifully hand-drawn and makes every one of the voice-acted characters uniquely memorable. The gameplay is fast-paced and varies greatly from run to run while inching the story forward with each successful escape. As Hades 2 was recently announced, you will definitely want to complete this title first.

Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program is an intricate rocketship-building simulator where the goal is to make an efficient, accurate and long-lasting rocket ship that can take you across the solar system. Although easier said than done, KSP offers thousands of various combinations encouraging unusual placement and over-the-top creations. Being able to save creations and experiment as the desire arises makes this game perfect for setting down and picking back up whenever, giving you enough time to prepare for Kerbal Space Program 2 releasing in late February.

Graveyard Keeper

A sinister cousin to Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper puts the player in control of an amnesiac graveyard keeper charged with maintaining the church grounds, which include a number of buildings containing hidden secrets and vital clues. Despite being a farming/life simulator, Graveyard Keeper has a lot of exploration and narrative progression that will keep you playing for a long time before running out of things to do. Its handful of DLCs also enhances the story, progression and recipes that add hours upon hours of haunt-filled gameplay.

Subnautica: Below Zero

The sequel to Subnautica, Below Zero offers new environments above and below the water as you uncover the secrets of a deadly cover-up on an alien planet. As far as open-world survival craft games go, Below Zero is far and above one of the most expansive titles with loads of opportunity for growth and exploration. The many tool upgrades allow for constant increases in efficiency and make the game easy to return to and update personal goals while avoiding and hunting all kinds of alien sea life.

A Little to the Left

A cozy puzzle game focused on organization and looking for unclear solutions amid an array of objects drawn in a soft art style. Each puzzle tends to get progressively harder than the next while throwing in a handful of simple puzzles that keep the player from becoming frustrated. It’s really easy to pick up this game and just spend hours solving cute puzzles one after another while being pestered by a fluffy, white cat that shows up to swat at your seashells and plants.
