Apex Releases New ‘Hardcore Battle Royale’ Mode and Bug Fixes

Hardcore Battle Royale

Apex Legend’s latest event, the Celestial Sunrise Event, which launched earlier this week, brings a new limited-time mode “Hardcore Battle Royale” and cosmetics to the game. The LTM is a more challenging version of the regular trios battle royale. Players spawn in with level one shields, no helmet and armor swapping is disabled. Less information is available on the HUD, and the ring does maximum damage throughout the whole game.

Alongside the new LTM are new cosmetics, with legendary skins for Ash, Caustic, Octane and Pathfinder. Additionally, there are legendary weapon skins for the Wingman, Volt, Devotion and Hemlok. Players also have the opportunity to unlock a legendary reactive skin for the Peacekeeper, Jadeite Retribution, if they unlock all 24 special event items.

The new event comes following a small patch Respawn released Jan. 23, which reverted a silent nerf that had been made to Horizon’s tactical abilities. The nerf, which came with the previous Spellbound Collection Event, decreased Horizon’s weapon accuracy while shooting when players are aboard one of her Gravity Lifts. The change was not listed in the Spellbound Event patch notes. Respawn later tweeted that the nerf was unintentional.

The patch also fixed minor bugs, which had prevented some players from spawning with full tactical abilities in Battle Royale, and fixed another issue that caused incorrect particle effects upon eliminating Wraith with a headshot. Respawn also restored a Firing Range easter egg that allowed players to go into third person in the patch.

Apex Legends has suffered from several bugs in the past month, including general connection issues that caused in-game crashing, preventing players from enjoying the game. As a result of several connection errors, Olympus was removed from map rotation and replaced with World’s Edge.
